My brain is all over the place. Wanna take a peak? Keep reading!
- I’m sorry for being MIA on many of your blogs. This BlogSecret thing has taken up so much time. I mean, putting a few emails together to get these anonymous blogs out took a little time. Actually, it took A LOT of time. You better love me for this. Even if I completely screwed up and sent 2 submissions to each of you! =)
- One of my besties invited Sweets, SoMi and me to Madison (as in Wisconsin, not Avenue) for New Year’s Eve. Last time I went up there for NYE, she knocked me on my rocker with her killer pomegranate martinis. OMG, heaven! We’re so going. Even if we can only stay for 24 hours.
- Speaking of knocking me on my tail … ever had a Paloma before? First you start with tequila (yes, it usually ends there!) and then you add a little Squirt. A little lime. And a little salt around the rim, for those who care. And OMG, it’s yummy. Especially when playing Rock Band for 4 hours on Saturday night. Not that we did that or anything. I’m just saying.
- My use of OMG? Has rubbed off on my father. He just sent me an email and used that acronym when referring to some of our wedding photos. ROFL.
- Sweets and I checked out a gym that’s right down the street (as in, it took us 3 minutes to drive there … in traffic!). It’s huge. And so NOT the meat-market that is our current gym (which takes 30 minutes to drive to). We’ve already run into two of my 60-year old aunt’s friends there. But, the two pools, indoor track, four studios and plentiful cardio and weight equipment sold us. We’re joining this week.
- One of my bridesmaids moved to Phoenix almost 3 years ago. And I haven’t yet gone to visit. (Bad friend!) Between trips to the east coast to see my family and trips to North Carolina where we can see multiple friends in one trip, it’s been hard to set vacation time and money away for a trip to the southwest. We’re making it a priority for 2009. We hope to go in January before my gal pal gives birth to baby #2.
- We had a water leak in our building recently. Our downstairs neighbors had a tidy bit of damage to their ceiling. Turns out the pipes for our furnace were installed incorrectly, leading to this leak. Although the problem has been corrected and we are on our way to fixing their ceiling, Sweets and I feel terrible. Our neighbors are 2 weeks away from giving birth to their first child and this is the last project they should be concerned with.
I took another sewing class last week. We learned how to make tote bags. I’m in love with mine, mostly because I adore the fabrics I chose (see photo to right … inset shows the fabric I used as lining on the inside). (If I were rating it on perfect sewing, I’d likely give myself a B- … thankfully, the imperfections are only things I’ll notice). In early December, pseudostoops and I will be taking a baby blanket sewing class. Between our downstairs neighbors, my Phoenix gal pal, my sister-in-law and players yet to be named, there are a lot of pregnant ladies in my life. I’m excited to possibly be able to make a few gifts for them.
- I have a mid-decade birthday coming up. Some might consider it big. I just consider it a big excuse to celebrate. I want to have a party. Too bad our downstairs neighbors will have a newborn at home. No parties in our building. Thank goodness for awesome friends. Who offer up their homes. And who know how to throw down a damn good affair.
What random thoughts possess your mind today?!

Well that’s sweet of you to consider your downstairs neighbour and their new born. It’s a very thoughtful gesture. And if I learned to sew my own bags, I’d have saved loads of money by now. Cute bag!

You know, I live right here in Madison (Wisconsin, not Avenue), and happen to love pomegranite martinis… I’m just saying. I wouldn’t necessarily turn down an invite :)

Paloma, huh? I’d love to try it… Damn. My list of “must-try” cocktails is growing by at least two per week. I’d better get to drinking!
That gym sounds great. Nothing can kill your resolve to exercise like a crappy gym. I’m glad you found one that fits you guys!

Love the bag!
Cracked up about your dad using OMG. My parents tend to do the same when I use something over and over again. Too funny to hear them say it. :)
Well done on blog secret!!

Cute bag! It sounds like you will have a lot of sewing projects that will keep you busy!
What gym did you check out, was it the one in Edgewater?
Tomorrow is the day, I am very excited. Way to go!

When I knit things, I always am the only one to notice what is wrong with them. I say it’s part of the handmade charm. It looks awesome to me!

My father not only uses OMG but now LOL too. Sometimes it’s down right scary. ;)

Just so you know, the night I ended up in treatment, I was drinking vodka and pineapple juice. It doesn’t get much better than that. Go enjoy it for me!

I can’t imagine how much work that blog secret was. Wow.
My mind is always scattered, so I appreciate your post.

I am super excited for Blog Secret.
I would love to find a gym as nice as the one you described near me that’s actually affordable.
My Monday musings aren’t as upbeat since they are MONDAY musings, but I needed to post, so post I did!

You may want to just invite your downstairs neighbors : ) I didn’t have a babysitter so drop the baby at for stuff like that early on but boy, I would have been ready to!! Maybe they’ll have a laid back baby.
You cook, you sew, you travel, you work, you workout. It’s so great. A person could start to feel lazy.
November 17th, 2008 at 7:12 pm
Thanks so much for making this BlogSecret happen! I’m looking forward to reading everyone’s posts tomorrow.
If we do it again, maybe we can have a rotating host so you don’t have to deal with the deluge of emails.
Paloma sounds delicious, although the name makes me think of that character from my (now cancelled) soap opera, “Passions.”

Where is your sewing class? That tote bag is so cute! I bought fabric while in Hawaii last year with the intention of making baby blankets (Lil’bug has one that I’d like to copy). I haven’t figured the next step. Meanwhile I’ve got the prettiest Hawaiian fabrics sitting on a shelf in my guest room closet ::sigh::.

November 18th, 2008 at 1:38 am

November 18th, 2008 at 6:25 pm
Man am I sad that I didn’t get blogsecret done in time before we left town for the weekend. What a great turnout!
And your tote looks AWESOME. The giveaway comment has me thinking that maybe we should cook up some sort of handmade giveaway project….I’ll put my thinking cap on!
November 18th, 2008 at 10:22 pm
Well, considering I’ve been MIA on your blog here, all is forgiven.
I’ll have to play catchup here with the BlogSecret posts.
