BlogSecretParticipants
Welcome to BlogSecret! The blogging exercise where you write a secret and have it posted anonymously on someone else’s blog. For my first foray into this kind of project, I managed to round up 79 bloggers. Yes, that’s right, almost 80 bloggers. And I can guarantee I hadn’t heard of half of the blogs prior to this here experiment. So, THANK YOU for the power of social networking and word of mouth!
Each one of the bloggers listed below deserves accolades. It is said (through the results of lots of research) that the simple act of writing about a secret is highly cathartic and has been found to have genuine health impacts up to several months later. But, what the research doesn’t say is it takes courage, lots and lots of courage to reveal something you’ve held close to your heart. While I haven’t had the opportunity to read all of the submissions, I can tell you people were honest with their secrets. There are some dark truths to be told and I hope you’ll take into consideration how brave each of these bloggers is for talking about something they otherwise might not.
So, without further ado, let me share with yiour our blogger participant list (in alphabetical order) … please let me know if any of the links fail to work.

Nilsa, thanks so much for organizing this. It was such a treat to write about something that had really been bothering me. I bow down to your organization skills AND to your linking prowess.

And here we are…
I feel like I need to click on every one of them to show them the attention they deserve.
Thank you!!

This was a great idea… I have only read a couple of the BlogSecrets so far -- I didn’t realize how powerful they would be. I commend all those who participated for sharing your secrets -- I just hope I have enough time to comment on each of your posts!

Nilsa, you’re a star for doing this and I can’t wait to read all the entries tonight when I get home from work

Now that the first round is done, I have a suggestion for the next time -- allow hosting-only and writing-only blogs.
By doing this, the ability to match post to writer would be rendered much harder, as only a list of hosting blogs would be published (which would then not be a complete set of writers). The best that would then be possible would be to say that a post was not written by any of the hosting blogs (since formal author matching is inexact).

November 18th, 2008 at 5:21 pm
Nilsa,
I know this too a lot of work. I figured a decent amount of people would volunteer to do it, but not nearly this many.
Again, thank you for giving all of us who participated a voice. I can’t believe how many people actually share secrets that I didn’t even disclose! It makes me feel not alone.
Also, thank you for not giving up as the going got tough! :)
THANK YOU!

Nilsa you did an amazing job organizing this--THANK YOU! I cannot wait to start going thru them ALL, so many brave bloggers who shared their secrets.
November 18th, 2008 at 8:03 pm
Nilsa, this is awesome. I am having a hell of a time working my way through all of the posts, but I will get there! And I’m enjoying it so much. Just as I’m enjoying having my secret out there.
November 18th, 2008 at 8:10 pm
I think this is great. I am not ready to share my secret because the person the secret is about, reads my blog daily… and it is a VERY BIG secret. I’m not ready to tell. :(
November 18th, 2008 at 9:22 pm

November 18th, 2008 at 10:06 pm

November 18th, 2008 at 11:16 pm
I didn’t participate in it, but it was a wonderful idea and very well executed!!! The posts were all individually great. Thanks (again) Nilsa for being such an inspiring blogger!!

Thanks for putting this together, Nilsa. I was swamped all day today, but am sitting down now for a couple of hours of reading. I think it’s wonderful how many people shared their stories.
November 19th, 2008 at 2:05 am
Thank you, Nilsa! This was not only cathartic, but it was an amazing experience reading what other bloggers had to say, seeing some of the same experiences and realizing how much we all might have in common. Not to mention, I got exposed to really great blogs I would’ve otherwise never found! We should really do this again sometime!!!
November 19th, 2008 at 2:14 am

Not only did I love writing my secret (so liberating!), I also loved not working at all today as I made my way through all the others!
Can’t thank you enough for putting this together Nilsa!
November 19th, 2008 at 8:01 am
How much do I have to pay you to give me a master list of the blogs and the authors? Maybe just a few of the authors? I like much of what I read and would love to read their real blogs. I’m also very nosy so this has been a fun day of blog reading.
Yes, I was kidding about paying for a list. I’m so close to putting the names of the bloggers in Column A and then drawing lines to their posts in Column B.
November 19th, 2008 at 1:13 pm
What an incredible day…I’m actually emotionally drained from it all but in a really, really good way.
November 19th, 2008 at 1:32 pm
I admire everyone who posted a secret! I have only been able to read a few so far but I am blown away! You guys are awesome! I hope to be able to participate next time =)
November 20th, 2008 at 2:42 am
What a great idea! Let me know if you need more participants. Well done!
November 20th, 2008 at 5:53 pm
