Blogoversary
Tomorrow is Saturday. March 7, 2009. And while I won’t be around these blogging parts, tomorrow is an important day in my blogging life. It will be my two-year anniversary. I started off that day two years ago with two posts. Thinking I’d be pensive in most everything I wrote. And now? 600+ posts later. I’m kind of amazed to have landed where I am.
Some things haven’t changed since then. My blog titles remain one word only. I post Monday through Friday (for the most part). I have always been a known blogger (versus an anonymous one). I tend to write about most facets of my life, though there are some subjects that were taboo in the start and are still taboo today. I have remained true to myself in everything I write.
But other things have drastically changed. Things I was never expecting. Such as you. I never in a million years expected my little venture into blogging would open up a world of new faces and new personas. A community of many people I’ve never met, but feel I know. A selection of those bloggers whom I’ve been lucky enough to meet face to face. And a select few of those bloggers I have moved from calling “blogging friends” to “real life friends.”
Of course, there have been a few stumbles along the way. Readers who think I’m full of myself and tell me so. Friends who aren’t happy about the light I cast them in this space. Other people in my real-world life who have told me what I am not allowed to blog about. But, you know what? None of those trips have gotten me down. Not one of them. I learn what I can from each stumble. Consider whether I want to make changes in my blogging approach. And move on.
So, let me take this moment to thank you. The lovers and the haters. Because, quite frankly, even though I write for myself and myself only, I have learned a lot from you. And I’m not sure what form my blog would have taken had you not entered my life. A strange, yet happy medium. A balance that seems to work. Know I’m thinking of y’all this weekend and look forward to more good times in this here space. Happy weekend!

I started blogging 3 or so years ago and I never in my LIFE would’ve imagined the doors it would open for me. This last year and the community I’ve seen built is amazing. I have LOVED getting to know you through both your blog and your comments! You are quite fantastic :)

Your second to last paragraph really hits home with me… I have moments where things like that happen (and I am a relatively new blogger!) and it makes for a day or two where I just want to run away from the internet screaming. But I always come back, just like you did. And it’s good to hear that other people have the same issues and love and stick with blogging anyway.
