Carded
The annual BlogHer conference starts next week. I remember hearing about it in years past and wished I was a part of it. This year, I registered blindly. Mostly because my hometown serves as host this year. Definitely not because I really knew what I was getting into.
And while a bit overwhelmed at the sheer number of bloggers and celebrity of some of them, I am excited. I am mostly excited to meet some bloggers I’ve been reading for years. I’m excited to meet some kick ass women and discover their new (to me) blogs. I’m excited to be attending a conference I’m actually excited about.
One thing I learned from other bloggers’ experiences in past years was having business cards is helpful. It cuts down on how often you have to write down your name, URL and email address for the people you meet. And it gives other bloggers something by which to remember you. So, well in advance of the conference, I began working with my blog designer and came up with my cards. They’re bright, fun and most importantly, reflect this here blog. I’m biased, but I must say, they are cute!

Once I was fully carded, I began wondering what break-out sessions I’d attend. And what parties I’d attend. And once I figured out where I could find that information (not intuitive!), the options seemed endless. So, I put together a little spreadsheet to keep track of which break-out sessions I want to attend (world, meet anal retentive!). And wondered why certain time slots have multiple sessions I wish I could attend, while other time slots have little of interest to me.
I decided to share this little spreadsheet thingy with some of my girls who I know will also be attending (I want to know where they’re going, too). And then I realized there must be more of you attending (are you?!?!). So, if you’re attending BlogHer and I don’t know about it … well, I’m feeling full of love today, so I’d love to get you in on this little spreadsheet. Let me know and I’ll send you the link.
Finally, for anyone attending BlogHer this year (or has attended in past years), give this newbie some advice. What to wear during the day? Night? How much sleep should I expect to get? Will Sweets see me at all this weekend? Help me! I want to show off my confident self and not get lost in the sea of bloggyness!

I hope that you have a good time, I can’t wait for the re-caps. I decided not to go because it is a week before the wedding but if there is any “unofficial” meet up I may be able to go.

I’m not biased, and those business cards are ADORABLE.
Also, I can’t believe you have a spreadsheet. If I were going, I would totally have one too.

Love, love, love the business cards! They reflect your blog perfectly!
I’m so very jealous you are going to BlogHer. If I had the funds I would have hopped on a plane and sent my little self to Chicago to meet and mingle with all you lovely people. I’m still crossing my fingers and hoping they will have on in DC at some point.

Your cards are GREAT! Love them! I can’t wait to hear all about BlogHER from your perspective. You’re the first I’ve known to go to one -- of course, I’m new to the blogging world. Have fun!!

I’m not going to BlogHer this year, wish I could. Maybe next. Chicago is an awesome city though.

I SO WISH! But, I’m going to wine school instead that weekend. (I could probably learn a lot about wine at BlogHer too, come to think of it…hee hee…)
I can’t wait to read your recaps, see pics, etc. Live it for me, OK?! :)

Next year… I hope!

Yay, all things are loaded and working appropriately!!!
Cards are ADORB.
I wish I could go to BlogHer, maybe next year, I couldn’t justify being away right now with that kid going to college…

You already looped me into the spreadsheet which tickles me to no end. I adore organization! Thanks for doing that.
I’ve been sending you any of the party info I hear about. I should totally hit you up for stuff to see. I plan to go out to dinner Thursday night before the parties and do some exploring on Sunday before we hang out. It’s not enough time! I guess I will just have to return. ;-)
As for what to wear- be comfortable during the conference and know that it will be cool in the hotel (bring a wrap or sweater). Lots of people wear the same thing to the cocktail parties but me being me, I like put on a party dress. Others go change too but it’s not required.
I CAN’T WAIT TO MEET YOU!

Those business cards? Absolutely ADORABLE! I’m so excited for you and so jealous that you are going to BlogHer. Take notes because I definitely want to hear ALL about it! (And I want to go next year, if I can work things out with work!)

The business cards are great. Have a blast!
July 16th, 2009 at 12:13 am
Those cards are super cute!
Also, I am a total spreadsheet nerd. Seriously, I made one to keep track of the (what felt like) thousands rental houses we looked at and their different amenities etc. AB made fun of me for being the biggest nerd ever but meh!
July 16th, 2009 at 1:41 pm
Haha. If I were going, I would totally have a spreadsheet. I love excel.
July 16th, 2009 at 2:50 pm
I love love love those business cards. And I’m so jealous that you get to go to BlogHer. I didn’t really think about it until after thesis, and by that time, there was only waitlist opportunity. One day!
July 16th, 2009 at 4:17 pm
Um, yes. Your cards are SWEET ;)
July 27th, 2009 at 12:39 pm
At a conference the size of BlogHer, I could see how having cards would help. And your cards look very nice. Very matched to your site’s design.
