Defeated
Just announced: Chicago was eliminated from contention for the 2016 Olympics.
I expressed my thoughts about it here a few weeks ago. And while those beliefs still stand, I am a little sad for our city. Though there was a glimmer of hope, we will remain in the global shadows.

Am I really the first one to comment? Woah.
I know it sucks, but I am really wondering if Chicago is really considered to be in the “global shadows?” Through my own very un-scientific research, in my travels people in the sticks of China have known what Kentucky is. I therefore (unscientifically) assume that Chicago is on their list, too.
Is there any talk about re-bidding in the future?

I’m sorry, lady. I understand why you’re a bit disappointed. I reckon you should visit Vancouver for the 2010 Olympics so you can get your fill of the Olympics (and visit me!!)

I’m a little surprised Chicago didn’t get selected. I really didn’t think Obama would have gone all the way to Copenhagen to meet with the IOC unless he already knew Chicago had been chosen.

I think being “in the global shadows” is a great thing! I prefer those cities. San Francisco, Boston, and Chicago are three of my favorite places and I’d hate to see any one of them turn into New York or LA.

I’m sorry. It is a bummer.
Hey, what’s with BS picking on New York City above me?

It was absolutely a shock and a bummer. I was still mixed on my thoughts about it and while I was disappointed, I was pleased as well. Was hoping for a little more of a build up though.
