Conversations
Last week, I got a phone call from Ethan Allen, the store where we ordered our chair and ottoman. It went something like this:
Sales Lady: Your furniture is ready for delivery.
Me: Oh wow, already? Great.
SL: We can schedule you next Wednesday.
Me: M’kay. Sounds good to me. What phone numbers should I call if I run into a problem between now and then?
SL: Here at the store (847-xxx-xxxx) or our distribution center (630-xxx-xxxx).
Me: Wonderful, thanks!
A few days later, I got a phone call from the distribution center that went something like this:
Distribution guy: Your furniture is in and ready to be delivered. Our first available day is next Thursday.
Me: Oh, that’s weird. I just spoke with someone from the retail center. I scheduled delivery with her for next Wednesday.
DG: Umm, no. We don’t have you on our schedule for next Wednesday. Next Thursday is our first available day.
Me: OK, let’s schedule for next Thursday. Can you provide a number for me to call in case I have an issue between now and then?
DG: Sure. 630-xxx-xxxx.
Me: OK, thanks!
I was relaying this strange story to Sweets when he asked if I was sure the guy who called from the distribution center was from Ethan Allen? He wondered whether it might be a guy from the distribution center for Room and Board, where we ordered our sofa. I figured a quick call to the distribution center (the number that the second guy gave me) would immediately answer our question. After I called, this is what I told Sweets:
Me: Just heard their recorded message. Like I said, it was Room and Boa…. OH, IT WAS ROOM AND BOARD!!!!
Yes, folks, that means both our furniture deliveries have been scheduled for this week. I can’t begin to tell you how excited we are to be one step closer to a completed living room! Pictures to come!

Yay! Isnt it great when everything falls into place and you’re able to get so much closer to having your living space the way you want it. I can’t wait to see pictures.

Very exciting! I LOVE our Room and Board couch. It has such pretty lines. I even ordered slipcovers for it that I can just throw in the wash; anything to keep that thing looking good for years to come.

Yay! I cannot wait to see it (in person!!!).
We finally had enough money to order a new couch and loveseat a few years ago, and it came the DAY BEFORE Thanksgiving. And we hosted Thanksgiving at our house that year! We were so pleased!!! :) (can you tell? :P)

I just steam cleaned my furniture and it came out great! That makes it sort of new, so, you know. You’re not special.
