Life! Many of us go through periods of self-improvement. Whether it’s to get over a troubled childhood or to get through a time after a break-up. We take time to focus on ourselves. And while these sorts of passages are ok from time to time, the key is to not let them take over our lives. Personally, I think it’s a shame when I see people constantly working towards a goal or set of goals (could be personal, professional, etc.) and never stop to enjoy what they have here today. Sizzle is trying to figure out that balance. And, as the title to her post suggests, we don’t get a lifetime rehearsal! {source: Sizzle Says}

Free! I don’t often discuss the feeling I get from running. But, there is a phrase, the runner’s high, for a reason. Running releases endorphins and other feel-good stuff inside my body. Even after a long, grueling run, I still manage a smile. Because life is always good after a run. This past weekend, I took a hiatus from running. In fact, I had taken a hiatus from any long runs for a few weeks. Come Monday, I was ready for a serious haul. So, it was 5 miles on my own and another 3 with the dog. 8 miles never felt so good. And Hannah and Melissa couldn’t have summed up my feelings any better! {source: Melissunderstandings … Life According to Mel Heth and Hannah, just breathe}

It’s raining here in Chicago and it sounds like our weekend will be peppered with the h20. What better excuse than to curl up, finish my book and attend book club with some gal pals. Hope you have a fabulous weekend and I’ll see you on the flip side!

    The rainy weather makes me feel lazy. I have a cold and if my weekend wasn’t so busy I would stay home and sleep! Reading a book and attending book club sounds like fun. Have a great weekend!

    I was just wondering about your book club last night and was planning on asking you if you had met to disucss the book. I’m looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the book and of course about the next book you will be reading. Its supposed to be rainy and cold here as well, I’ll definitely be curling up with my current read, The World To Come by Dara Horn. Have a great weekend!

    I couldn’t agree more with your first replay. There is nothing wrong with improving yourself, but to never take time to rejoice in what you’ve worked so hard for makes me wonder why one would even bother trying at all, if it’s never, even for a moment, going to be “good enough.” I find that when I strike a balance between self-inprovement & celebrating my accomplishments, I am more motivated & refreshed to tackle the next set of goals I set for myself.

    It’s been raining here all week. It’s supposed to finally clear off this afternoon -- it will be coming your way!

    Ooooo, I want to attend book club, too!! What are you reading?? I need a good fall novel to feast on.

    Yay! Back to running! :) I just started half marathon training this week, so my long and boring Sunday recaps will be back!

    Sizzle seems to be doing a good job of finding her way and I’m positive she’ll get to where she wants to be. I always wish for her the utmost happiness.

    Have a wonderful weekend! It’s suppose to be rainy here too so I won’t feel too bad for having to stay indoors since this cold thing hasn’t left me yet!

    I wish it was going to rain here tomorrow so I would have an excuse to hole up in my apartment. I can’t believe I am saying that since I am in Seattle and it rains all the time. But not tomorrow.

    Thanks for the shout out.

    Happy weekend, gal -- enjoy that new furniture, your book, and the warm indoors :)

    Awe thanks for linking to me! Those endorphins really are a wonderful thing -- and I love that you can get them even if you only run 2.85 like I did. :) Are you training for something? Is that why the long runs? Maybe you wrote that on here but my Alzheimer’s is preventing me from remembering.

    Good thoughts for Miss Sizzle too. I loved the poems she posted yesterday.
