The thing about cleaning ladies (or cleaning men? No really, has anyone ever had a cleaning man?) is that people think it means you don’t have to clean your house. What it means for me is that I get one day off a week where someone else can unload the dishwasher, fold the laundry, mop pee up from behind the toilets (I have two itty bitty boys), and what have you. Yes, she does clean and replace all the sheets but hardly a week goes by that I don’t have to change sheets mid-week (think pee; think pee again).

If being pretentious (and I’m not bitchy about this either) means getting to sit in the park with a coffee and laugh with a friend about something retarded my husband said earlier in the week (while someone mops my hideous kitchen floor) then bring it on…

moving out of my mothers house the thing i missed more than anything was the cleaning lady. i never cleaned a shower or a toilet until 4 years ago.

One day I would LOVE to have a cleaning lady but I fear the silent judgement of my shabby apartment. Plus I’m not that trusting of people in my house when I’m not. Keep me posted how that goes!

I know that I would have taken it WAY personally. I’ve often considered getting a cleaning person -- I am relatively neat, but a slack ass when it comes to floors and windows etc.
I’ve always been too cheap to make the investment…
