Replay
This week, I’ve been a bit pre-occupied with preparations for my trip (I leave in the morning – yay!). So, this Replay post, where I pick some of my favorite reads of the week, was going to be light, but turned out right on target.
Perception! They say perception is everything. Take any incident or situation from history. There will always be many sides, many versions to what happened. There’s a saying that there’s three sides to every story: yours, mine and the truth. Erin writes heavily about being a step-parent. And while I’m not a step-parent, heck, I’m not even a mom, I do enjoy reading her blog. It’s very well written and insightful. This week, she writes about perception of things that happened when she was a child and how her mom sees things differently. I think many of us can relate to her message. {source: The Erin Experiment}
Flipped! So, Knotty Yarn is one of those bloggers I admire from afar. I don’t often leave comments and she’s only once responded to me (the first time, I think). It doesn’t help that she’s now turned commenting off altogether. But, her writing is quirky and fun and hilarious. And I thoroughly enjoy reading her entries when she makes the time to blog. I spoke about perception above and now I”m bringing it up again. Every situation has a unique angle to it and Danielle brings light to a few. {source: Knotty Yarn}
Mickey! Growing up, my family lived in an old farm house. Where we might have had a little problem with mice. Crissy blogs about an experience that reminds me of my childhood. And the time I came home from school to find a dead mouse on the kitchen floor. And how I called my mom at work freaking out. And how she instructed me to clean it up. And how I freaked out a little more. And how she instructed me to call the neighbor kid. And how I talked to the neighbor kid’s mom, who said he wouldn’t be home for a few hours. And how I sat in the kitchen with that dead mouse keeping the dog away and waiting for the neighbor kid. And how I refused to clean that shit up. That’s how I roll. And that’s why I couldn’t help but laugh at Crissy’s story. {source: Crissy Queen of Fucking Everything}
Giveaways! What better way to end the week than to tell you about a couple giveaways. Two bloggers (both of whom I’ve met in real life; both of whom are wicked cool) are hosting giveaways on their blogs. The winner will get an HP dm3 notebook PC. It’s got all the latest Windows 7 gadgets in a small, compact package. These contests run through next week, but hurry up and comment on their blogs to be considered! {source: Cleveland’s A Plum, Free and Flawed}
Alright, y’all. I’m driving east starting tomorrow. I’ll be sure to wave to my blogger friends in Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, upstate New York and Massachusetts. Wait, I think I’ll actually be seeing a few of you. Score! But, don’t you fret, I may have a post or two scheduled for next week while I’m gone. Miss me as much as I’ll miss you. And I’ll see you on the far flip side!

I would have done the same thing about the mice situation; I *still* shudder when I have to clean up insects. Case in point: a HUGE slug crawled into my beautifully carved pumpkin just two days before Halloween. I went to light it but literally screamed & jumped back, sending the top of the pumpkin crashing to the floor when I saw this ginormous slug. I ran in the house and demanded my mom help me get rid of it, which she did. There was a lovely perimeter of salt all around my pumpkin after that and I wouldn’t go near the slug as it crawled out of the pumpkin. Ew. Gross.
Anyway, have a safe trip and wishing you a lovely Thanksgiving. And yes, you will be missed. I promise!

I am totally crap at responding to comments, which is why I turned them off. But I’ve had your blog in my reader since you first commented, and I think it is high time I started commenting here! Thank you not only for the link, but the unbelievably nice things you said about my little ol’ blog.
Have a wonderful trip, sister!
