Thanksgiving
Wow, y’all, I can’t believe I’m back. My trip was a whole bunch of fabulous. And I can’t believe how kind you were to me while I was gone. I know I normally respond to many of your comments. Believe me when I say I read each and every comment. And I will try to follow up with you in the coming days.
My first few days in Boston were a perfect combination of sleep, running, catching up with friends and shopping. I spent a whole day shopping with a childhood girlfriend, which included a purchase that looked like this photo (imagine it in an eggplant color instead of the one shown).
That evening added precious moments with these two ladies in addition to my childhood friend. What started off as dinner around our dining room table with my parents turned into incredible amounts of laughter. And sugar. And it was an evening I won’t soon forget.
I drove to my parents’ beach house on Tuesday afternoon. Once I parked the truck, I didn’t move it again until Sweets and I drove back to Chicago. My days were spent running with the dogs through the woods. Reading. Napping. Spending moments talking with family. Moments playing with the kids. Moments behind the camera lens. Making messes while cooking. Cleaning up other people’s cooking messes. Eating entirely too much food. Laughing loads. Playing board games late into the night.
14 adults. 3 children. 3 dogs.
It looked something like this:
And this:
And really, other than more time with my loved ones, I really wouldn’t have changed a thing. What about your Thanksgiving breaks would you have left absolutely the same?!

That sounds so relaxing! :) I hope the transition back to work today isn’t too hard! I was only off for 4 days and I am kind of feeling it!
We had Thanksgiving on Friday and it was totally low-key and relaxing. It was just my sis and her friend so I didn’t feel any huge pressure. We chilled all day and I loved it :)
Welcome back!

Sounds perfect. I had a lovely holiday weekend too. Family, friends, laughing, good music, shopping frenzy and plenty of football.

Your trip sounds so great and relaxing! I am glad that you had such a fantastic time with your family. Mine was much of the same — catching up with friends, shopping, watching movies, eating some delicious food, and just relaxing. I wouldn’t have changed one single thing.

That sounds/looks like so much fun!
My Thanksgiving was pretty nice too. I wish it could have been longer, but otherwise it was pretty perfect.

We played with the baby. Cooked. Played with the baby. Walked. Played with the baby. Ate some more. Played with the baby. Um. Yeah. We played with the baby. I asked my parents if we even ever talked to each other before the baby. They just laughed. He changes everything and he’s so perfect it makes me cry just thinking about it.

What an awesome group photo! And how cute are those dogs?
I wouldn’t change having a four-day weekend. I wouldn’t change running a 5k on Thanksgiving day. I wouldn’t change the fact that my brother came home for 2 days, albeit a brief two days.
There were moments of difficulty for me but overall it was fantastic and I loved it.
I do wish I could do it all over again… =)
Glad you’re back!

So cute! I love the dogs. I wish it were easier to fly with dogs… we would totally bring Montana with us to my parents’ house for holidays.

Oh what an amazing group you are! I have a tiny little family, maybe 10 in total- and this kind of a mini get away sounds like such a great idea.
Maybe someday! =)

I have weekend envy! It sounds delightful. We got a run in on the beach Thanksgiving morning and then it was all mayhem after that. I feel like I need a week to catch up on all the things I didn’t get done!
