It’s that time of the week again. The time when we wrap things up at work. Get hopped up in excitement for our weekend plans. And see some of the posts from the week that I think are right on track!

Perfection! A good pal went to see Anthony Bourdain live. One of his messages was that the perfect meal cannot be planned. It’s the time when life changes your plans and you seek something out and walk away pleasantly surprised. I couldn’t agree more. It’s largely why I skipped all my proms in high school, hated sorority formals (only went to one or two) and always skip the big, expensive parties for New Year’s Eve. You shouldn’t have to pay to have fun. You make fun wherever you are and usually the most fun comes when you least expect it! {source: Skrinkering Hearts}

Webbed! The Internet is this complicated web full of connections. This week, a bunch of bloggers showed how tight and powerful those connections can really be. As many of you know, fellow blogger, Brandy’s Hot Awesome Dude is dealing with some not so great health news. As the two of them embark on this journey into the unknown, bloggers banded together to make a video for them. And to help them raise money for research for the cause of Hot Awesome Dude’s poor health. The cause? It’s a good one. Donate if you can. {source: Love Harder, Too Many Blogs to Name Here, So Just Watch This Video Instead, Brandy}

Zen! One definition of zen is a total state of focus, incorporating a total togetheringness of body and mind. Busty Satan talks about bringing back a sense of calm, rest, simplicity into her life one day a week. I know many of us live very busy, happily hectic lives. But, I think we could all learn from her lesson of turning off the computer, muting our phones and leaving the TV remote on the table. Whether it’s a whole day or just 20 minutes per week, we could all become more in tune with ourselves and the world around us if we just let ourselves be. {source: Busty Satan, Urban Dictionary}

Date! Do you guys read Michelle Woo’s blog? If not,  you should. She’s always full of positive energy. And even though she only blogs once or twice a week, I still love reading her stuff. She got engaged not too long ago, so her blog posts have veered towards wedding land. But, they are so fun to read. Because she’s one of those creative types. The kind of person I kind of adore. Anyway, you’ve got to check out their Save the Date video. It’s so very them. And then you should go back and read her other blog posts. Because they’re worth it. {source: Michelle Woo}

Status! For the most part, Facebook status updates are boring and not worth repeating. However, once in a while, I come across those gems that keep me laughing or even thinking for hours after. Here are a couple that caught my eye this week:

1) My 8 year old is extremely accident prone. He could trip on this own shadow. After the 100th accident of the day, I told him that I had ordered him a padded suit since he couldn’t manage to pay attention. After teasing him about this, I turned around and walked into the door! He says, “You might wanna get that padded suit in a bigger size!”

2) [Name redacted] wonders why there are no breakfast delivery joints … Am I the only one who wakes up lazy?

That’s all from here for this week. Have a great weekend and I’ll see y’all on the flip side!

    Yeah, anymore I rarely read Facebook status updates. There are just too many of them to keep up with.

    I am all about turning the tv, computer, phone off. Sadly this week I failed at doing so. I am hoping the new books I picked up from the library will encourage me to disconnect myself more in the up coming week.

    Have a great weekend, Nilsa!

  5. Lys Says:

    believe it or not, when i lived in new york, there were about 3 or 4 different places that delivered breakfast. eggs of any form, toast with whatever you wanted on it, sausages and bacon, bagels, juice, hashbrowns, pancakes, waffles with fruit…that was the life.

    I loved their save the date video! And I don’t look at Facebook much anymore, but if I did and there were actually clever/funny updates on there I might visit more often. :)

    Happy weekend, Nilsa!

    I really like this idea of highlighting stuff you’ve seen over the week. And I’m SO in agreement about Michelle Woo. She’s one of my new faves. :)

    I agree with the Zen idea and have been trying to incorporate it in our lives more and more lately. It’s SO easy to turn the TV on and simply let it suck you in. I am known to fall asleep in front of it or to simply waste hours upon hours “taking it easy” in front of the TV rather than taking it easy while reading a book or simply giving my damn eyes a break. Though it might require changing habits or getting off your ass (literally, for me) we all need more Zen in our lives!

    You skipped your prom??? Rebel. Ah ha ha. I am seriously addicted to No Reservations. How awesome it must have been to see him live!

    I really like that quote from Anthony that a perfect meal cannot be planned. A) it’s so true and b) it’s a great metaphor for life too

    I’m never that good at updating my Facebook status, but when I do, I try not to change it more than once a day. I use Twitter for the more than once a day updates.
