Here we are. It’s Friday. You’re visiting SoMi Speaks. And I’m replaying my favorite stuff from the web this week. Enjoy!

Sorry! When I left my 20s behind and entered my 30s, I grew up in a lot of ways. One of them included my use of apologies. Instead of apologizing for everything, I’d only apologize where I truly did something wrong, something regretful. Michelle Woo’s post about apologies is a great analogy about growing up. {source: Michelle Woo}

Thirty! Busty Satan is one of those bloggers whom I wish was one of my down-the-street friends. We have some overlap in our history. Her family reminds me a bit of my own. And she’s downright funny, which all of you can enjoy. Especially this week when she talks about the things she doesn’t want to do before turning 30. {source: Busty Satan}

Thanks! The blogosphere is a funny place. I came here as a creative writing outlet and have stumbled across many really amazing people. From these new friends, I’ve gotten linky love, cards, care packages and mix CDs. I’ve met a bunch of these strangers-now-friends and consider some of them friends for life. I’ve even gone so far as to introduce Sweets (and my parents!) to some of these friends. One of these friends, in particular, has been very giving. When she heard I was thinking about taking sewing lessons, she gave me a sewing machine. And more recently, she came across some yarn that reminded her of me. She then proceeded to make me something (I’ve always wanted fingerless gloves!). Honestly, she is a gem.

Gift 1

This blurb is to thank her (in addition to the hand-written card I already sent). And to suggest that you should read her sweet blog. {source: Radioactive Girl}

Warning! My post the other day about the Superbowl advertising controversy was a bit on the heavy side. So, I’ll close out this post (and this week) with something from the light side. One of our friends whom we’ll see on Sunday for the Superbowl is a staunch fan of the Indianapolis Colts. He’s been keeping a close watch on activities leading up to the game. That’s why I got worried when he sent me an email saying STORM WARNING FOR MIAMI (where the Superbowl will be played this weekend). And then I cracked up when I looked at the photo he included:

Superbowl

That’s all from here, folks. Have a great weekend, be safe with your Superbowl partying and I’ll see you on the flip side.

    Am I the only one who doesn’t find that image funny? I don’t know, maybe I’m just in a bad mood and need more coffee!
    Have you done any sewing? I’d be interested to see what you’ve done! I think since the “white death” is upon us I might break out my machine this weekend.

  2. Hannah Says:

    Ugh, I hate the Colts!!!! Of course, I do—I’m a Patriots girl, through and through. :)

    Have a great weekend, my friend!

  3. radioactive tori Says:

    I’m just so glad you love them! Hope you have a great weekend!

  4. mandy Says:

    What a thoughtful gift! The friends I’ve made from the blogosphere are the greatest. I’ve never really been big into the Superbowl. I don’t know if I’ll even watch it. I hope you have a great superbowl party and enjoy the weekend!

  5. sizzle Says:

    i’m so conflicted on who i want for the superbowl! on the one hand, i like peyton because he’s my husband eli manning’s brother. on the other hand, the tattoo i just got happens to also be the saint’s logo, despite that not being why i got it… so i sort of feel like i should cheer for them. SO TORN :-)

  9. Jess Says:

    Ha. I’ll be rooting for the Saints this weekend, but that storm warning is pretty funny.

  10. Windsor Grace Says:

    I am about to pop over and read what not to do before turning 30. So, she just gave you a sewing machine? Like, she mailed it? WOw. That’s intense. I will pop over there as well.

  11. Mel Heth Says:

    I love that you continually put your bloggie love out for everyone to see. It’s no wonder people send you gifts and fall in love with you. :)

  12. kilax Says:

    I saw those gloves at Tori’s last week and fell in love with them! She made me some red ones last year and I use them all the time on the train. You are going to love them!

  13. Marie Says:

    Love the gloves!!! And the storm warning had me cracking up. :)

  14. Busty Satan Says:

    Oh yay. Especially since you know I want to be you when I grow up.

    I can’t decide who to root for on Sunday. I’ve been a Colts fan since I was told to be one (a family member is very close with a Colts player), but that Jezebel piece on Scott Fujita may trump family connections. A friend called Fujita’s MA in Ed a “panty dropper.”

    Love the gloves you got. The yarn is super cute. Are they warm?
