Giveaways! Yes, that’s right. That’s a PLURAL in there. By now, you’re sick of hearing about my giveaway! Well, Kim is also hosting a giveaway and I fear some of you might like her goodies better than mine. I won’t ruin the surprise, but I will tell you her goodies are edible! So, here’s your reminder to sign up for both giveaways – they’re good through Sunday! {source: SoMi Speaks; kilaxSTUDIO}

Woods! As you all know, I took a pretty strong stance on the whole Tiger Woods situation. It took me a whole blog post to write what could’ve been summarized by an If-Then flow chart.

Happiness! After the chance to meet Jess a few years ago, I became a very regular reader of her blog. She’s an incredibly mature, astute, beautiful person who has had quite the amazing last few years: marriage, cross-country move, new house, new dog, weight-loss surgery. The list goes on. This week, she wrote about how people compliment her on her weight loss and how some compliments are really quite damaging. Because, sometimes when you compliment a person on what they look like today, you are, in turn, saying damning things about the way they used to look. The beautiful thing about this post is Jess shows how her happiness is independent of her weight. She’s had an amazing life. Period. And finding that happiness outside of how we look … if only we could all achieve that goal! {source: Du Wax Loolu}

Truth! Amy does a beautiful post on 10 truths in her life. And if only we could go back to our teenage selves and really ingrain these truths. Unfortunately, we can’t do that. But, what we can do is make sure the young people in our lives learn these truths, hopefully sooner versus later! {source: Just a Titch}

Words! I know a lot of you out there are like me. We’re sticklers for the correct usage of words. When I was active on Match.com, using “their” instead of “they’re” was a deal breaker for me. These days, I roll my eyes until it hurts when I see “your” instead of “you’re” (can’t we just use “y’all” and be done with it?!). So, you can imagine my excitement when one of my favorite bloggers (who just got TENURED – which is a HUGE promotion in her field!) found a website with 10 Words You Need to Stop Misspelling. OMG, I about fainted into a happy place. I can only share a few with you here. You’re going to HAVE to visit the website for the rest.

Stogie! The other weekend, we bought SoMi a bag of rawhide bones in all different shapes and sizes. After her 2nd successful 3-mile run of the week, she deserved her choice of bone. So, she picked one. And then she smoked it like a stogie. And, well, I had to snap a shot of her, because a description doesn’t do her justice.

Alright, friends, that’s all I’ve got for this week. Have a fabulous weekend and I’ll see you on the flip side!

    I get lose and loose confused from time to time. Which one do we use when we ask someone if they lost something: Did you ______ you coat? How about when we describe what we will do to our kids if the fail to bring their lunchbox home: If she _______ her lunchbox one more time, I am going to sell her to the gypsies.

    Somi is so cute!!

  2. Emily Jane Says:

    OH MY GOSH I love the diagrams. Especially the “words” one. I may have to print it out and put it on my office wall, so I can just point instead of banging my head on a desk :)

  8. k8 Says:

    I think you and I have discussed the whole grammar thing before. I will immediately click off a match.com profile if there are grammar mistakes. I’m a brat like that.

    Thanks for the link love, Nilsa! Also, I have a secret fantasy (erm, guess it’s not really a secret anymore!) of buying ALL of cartoons by “The Oatmeal” about grammar (they do an awesome semi-colon one!) and decorating my classroom with them next year. Too bad a few are slightly inappropriate. They’re hilarious!

    Wow -- lots of great posts out there! As usual. So many blogs to read, so little time. I could make reading blogs 40 hour a week job. :)

    That pic at the end if awesome. Your dog is adorable. I wish I lived close so I could come over and borrow her for short runs. I have always wanted to live close to someone with a dog that I could borrow!!

    Its and it’s. What’s so hard about it?

  28. Sparkling Red Says:

    Thank God for the website teaching how to correctly spell commonly mis-spelled words. Those distinctions drive me crazy when they’re ignored. Sometimes I mis-spell those words myself, but I always proof-read what I’ve written, and I think I manage to catch the errors most of the time.

  29. Megan C Says:

    I love that picture of Somi!!

  30. Jessica Says:

    Love that picture of your pup! So cute. I have to re-read Jess’ post about compliments. It’s a tough spot to compliment someone but inadvertently put down how she was before.
