Sing! What was the number one song in the charts the day of your birth? Karen has a fun link to show the answer. Mine: On Top of the World by the Carpenters! I like to think my parents were most definitely on top of the world that day. Share in the comments what song was on your birthday! {source: Smiling Through It All, Birthday No #1}
Be! I often read blog posts about how our lives catch up with us. We write about our stresses. Our worries. What makes us anxious. All the many things stacking up on our calendar that make us excited. Why we’re not blogging. Sometimes, reading post after post after post becomes frenetic. Like this craziness is sweeping over the blogosphere. And that’s why, when Nora posted a photo at the end of last week, I felt my foot pushing the brake. And coming to an immediate stop to this peaceful, calm place. Maybe you will, too.

Hot! If only the air temperature were hot hot hot. While some of us wait for the much-anticipated summer air, we can increase the temperatures in other ways. Like, say, in what we eat. Ever made your own salsa? It’s so darn easy and honestly? I think it’s loads better than what you buy in the store. Even the stuff labeled fresh. So, I’ve been playing around with a salsa recipe for the last few weeks. And I’m finally ready to share my version with you. Seriously, try it. You just might never go back to store-bought! {source: SoMi Speaks Feature}
Spring! This week marked the first signs of spring around these parts. Rain, not snow. Dampness in the air. Earthy smells from the ground as it begins to thaw. Bunny rabbits coming out of hiding. You know what else marks spring? Daylight Savings Time. And it’s coming up this weekend. Don’t forget to change your clocks this weekend! And if you’re wondering which direction, this saying always helps me keep it straight: Spring Forward, Fall Back.
That’s all from here this week. Hope y’all have a great weekend and I’ll see you on the flip side!

That salsa sounds awesome. As Spring creeps in we end up doing many more nights on the patio (or deck) with cocktails and snacks. This will be a perfect addition to our chips.
We are destined for a weekend of rain and flooding, but I am excited that it isn’t snow!

I am with Karen. I want to make this salsa, sit on the deck with a beer and watch the sun set. I am taking a “just be” break this weekend and I cannot wait. A few lazy days of tackling some errands with my mom (and by tackling some errands I mean going to our favorite wine store) following that up with a movie with my 13 year old cousin, and coffee with a friend on Sunday. Im greatly looking forward to it. I hope that you have a fantastic weekend, Nilsa!

Sunshine. I just need sunshine.

My birthday song is One More Night by Phil Collins. How interesting to know! And Spring is right around the corner here as well, and I couldn’t be happier! :)

That salsa looks amazing. I wish I hadn’t gone to the grocery store yesterday because now I need to wait to make it because I don’t have the ingredients.

I love salsa, especially fresh. I am going to stick the ingredients on the list for my trip to the market this weekend.
The number one song the day I was born was Physical by Olivia Newton-John. Um, at least I can’t be blamed for that travesty.
Happy weekend!

I love that image. Now I just need to get it tattooed on my forehead so I will remember it all.

There isn’t a Canadian option for the song charts so I used the US one. My birthday #1 is Jack & Diane by John Cougar Mellencamp.

haha, my song is “another one bites the dust.” WHAT IS THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN?? :-)
i tried my 18th birthday, though, which was “i don’t want to miss a thing” by aerosmith, which at least seems appropriate for me right as i’d moved away from home and had started college.

Bourbon is also very good at warming you from the inside out. It doesn’t take much.

Thanks for the shoutout. Sometimes when I find photos like that I wish I could find them as framed prints to have around my house as little friendly reminders in super chic frames.
Aaaahh! Forgot about DST. Thanks for the reminder. I would have been *that* girl running around late for everything.
Have a lovely weekend :)

Mine was Celebration by Kool & The Gang!
I can’t wait to try that salsa recipe. I love salsas. Probably one of my favorite aps. They are so simple, but so delicious. Mmm.
Have a lovely weekend!

My b-day song is Alone Again (Naturally). Well now, that’s just sad.
On a happier note, your salsa sounds delish!

Mine was Downtown by Petula Clark. Just the name Petula dates me, I think ;-)

Guess what happened on the exact day that I was born? 1984, Michael Jackson underwent surgery in a Los Angeles hospital to repair damage done after his hair caught fire during the filming of a Pepsi commercial. Awesome, right? Wow, what a legacy for me.

I love a good salsa. Not too hot, but hot enough to where the taste of it is still able to be enjoyed without trying to put out a fire.
The Spring Forward part is harder than Fall Back. I’ve always had that phrase in my head twice a year, picturing me in bed and either forcing myself to wake up or enjoying an extra hour of sleep.
March 14th, 2010 at 9:13 pm
I am not happy about losing an hour of sleep but having it be lighter for longer makes me really happy!

i am a salsa connoisseur (woah, that looks funky spelled out). i’ve become very open with my salsa excursions and would love to try making my own. why i haven’t before, well, i’m lazy…i like things to come ready…curse of my generation i guess.
i’m so glad i don’t have to deal with daylight savings anymore. living in arizona has a few perks, including the whole not changing clocks thing AND fabulous weather (it’s supposed to stay in the 70s for the rest of the month).
