Productive
You could say I was productive this weekend. And most of it can be best captured in bullets. So, let’s waste no more time. Here we go!
This weekend, I…
- Pulled dead skin off my shoulders, chest, back, face. Vacation tan? Going, going, gone.
- Blew my nose more times than I can count on my fingers and toes.
- Watched enough TV that I can safely say our DVR is just about cleared out from being gone for a week on vacation.
- Saw old work friends and spouses and children, some of whom I haven’t seen in almost a decade; some of the kids I hadn’t ever met (and they’re about to enter elementary school – ahem!).
- Sold two tickets to Saturday night’s John Mayer concert; blame the cold as my excuse; I’m not sure why Sweets’ wasn’t up for the show; thankfully, a co-worker lifted them off us for face value.
- Learned that I didn’t get something I sort of applied for. In some ways, I was looking forward to the possibilities of this role (not job related). In other ways, I was relieved as it would’ve been a big time and money commitment.
- Began finalizing plans for my father’s visit in 2 weeks and my mother’s visit 2 weeks after that. (And no, they’re not divorced. Apparently, they just like to travel separately. The key to a long-lasting marriage? Maybe!)
- Thought about doing a training run, but skipped it. In the name of health. As in, my failing health!
- Went on a multi-mile walk with the dog instead of that run; it’s too hard to stay indoors when it’s 70 degrees and sunny out.
- Surprised the baby and her mamas for an afternoon visit, which included video chatting with my brother, watching the baby see herself on the computer monitor and make goofy faces at herself, and planning lots of family gatherings over the coming months.
- Watched the Masters.
- Met my maid of honor bestie for tea and dragged her to brunch with my aunt. Girls time, it’s good.
- Spent an afternoon and evening with Sweets’ parents, taking a long walk with the dog and enjoying their company over dinner.
But, the real highlight of my weekend? Well, besides spending time with my lovely husband (which is always a highlight of my weekend). Was meeting this lovely lady. That’s right, I got to meet Melissa and her lovely (and cute!) boyfriend, Mr. W. as they dropped into Chicago for like a blink of an eye. I’d show you the photo taken of the two of us, but conveniently, it’s on Melissa’s camera, so we’ll have to wait until she’s ready to blog about it (if at all)!
(Update: She posted the photo here, so I’m lifting it to share with you – yay!)
Melissa is the size of my pinky and bubbly and engaging and genuine and it’s no wonder she landed herself a solid Midwestern man. =) And Mr. W? She claimed he’d be quiet when we met, but au contraire mon frere. The boy chatted it up about family and St. Louis (our shared hometown) and work and was not short on words. Now, remind me again why they have to live in California? No, seriously, I want them to be our neighbors. Stat. In the meantime, I guess I’ll have to move her from my Always folder in my feed reader to Friends In Real Life folder. =)
And that’s it, kids. Our weekend was truly enjoyable.
What was the highlight of your weekend?!

Sorry you’re sickly at the moment. That’s never fun :( But meeting a favorite blogger? Now I’m just jealous. The highlight of my weekend was having a “reunion” get together before we move with a bunch of our old co-workers Saturday night, and sitting at an outdoor cafe with friends and family and live music in the background Sunday night. It was lovely.

Oh I’m sorry you’re so sick right now -- sending big hugs your way. I’m glad you had such a good visit with Melissa and her man :)

highlights of the weekend… my childhood BFF gave birth to her baby girl on Friday night. Finishing my econ midterm on Saturday (only took 6 hours!. My Dove Boxing Party on Sunday with several of my good friends, and allowing myself permission to ignore school work on Sunday evening, which included going to bed at 8:30 because I too feel like poop (still do unfortunately).
Hope you’re feeling MUCH better!

I am sorry to hear you still aren’t feeling well. Sounds like you had a great weekend despite that, seeing lots of old and new friends!
The highlight of my weekend was essentially dropping out of my normal every day routine for a few days. I ignored the internet and my cell phone, instead choosing to focus on each moment at hand as it came and enjoying that time to its fullest. After last week, it was exactly what I needed.

Well, despite feeling sick and peeling half the skin off your body, you still look great. :)

Sounds like a great weekend! Mine was pretty amazing too. We didn’t do a ton but we got to spend a lot of time together and that is my favorite.

Sick. I am sick, too. Strep Throat. It feels like firey knives in my throat. I hope you feel better today than I do!
The highlight of my weekend? Picking up ditch trash with Munchkins Number One and Two. Seriously. Watching them scream for their Daddy to stop the golf cart because they saw a smashed can? Precious.

My highlight? Sleeping in until after 8 on a Sunday morning and the mister making breakfast for me :)

One of the most surprising things I’ve found about the blogging community is how easy it is to make connections with other people. When I started blogging about the issues surrounding meeting friends, I sort of thought it would be a solitary activity. Just anonymous me behind a screen. It never occurred to me that blogging itself would be one of the key vehicles to through which to actually find new people to connect with. So awesome that you took that connection “offline.”

Was the nose blowing due to a cold or allergies? I get the allergy B.S. every morning. I blame mine on the dry weather here in Utah. I never remember having this issue when I’m in a more humid place.
Our weekend was one day outside instead of two. Saturday was nice, Sunday was supposed to be, but ended up being windy (which played more havoc with my allergies).
And hope you get to redo the tan this summer. I look forward to turning my white legs into something more presentable for shorts this summer.

you both look ADORABLE in that photo!!
i had to look away after that first bullet point and come back into the list halfway through when i was fairly confident there would be more talk of peeling skin, OH MY GAG ;-)

A very productive weekend! My highlight was getting up in time for an 8:30 yoga class after staying up until 2 the night before! I thoroughly impressed myself and all of my friends!

I LOVE meeting blog friends in person… so glad you got to meet Melissa! :)
And sending some good vibes your way for speedy recovery from your cold.

I hope you’re feeling better soon! It seems very unfair to be feeling ill when the weather is so nice.
I love the necklace you’re wearing in the photo. It reminds me of vacation.
April 12th, 2010 at 4:59 pm
Dang, girl, for being sick you sure did get alot done!
My highlight? Watching the doggies sleep peacefully in the backseat of our car while we dodged LA traffic and got to finally sleep in our own bed after spending the week on an air mattress -- yuck!
April 12th, 2010 at 5:47 pm
Looks so fun! And your hair is gorgeous long.
We planted a wildflower garden in our backyard this weekend. Now to see if it grows!
April 12th, 2010 at 7:57 pm
If I could I would put you both in my pockets. One for each pocket. That’s how adorable and fun and pocket-sized you both are. I’m so glad you had fun!
April 12th, 2010 at 8:27 pm
That’s a great picture! How fun to meet up with a fellow blogger. Sounds like she has quite the catch! :)
I love that your parents’ book club TRAVELS for meet ups. Sign me up! Would love that!!
I hope you are back to full health soon. It seems like I always get sick when I get back from vacations. Not sure it’s the change of climate or the recycled air on the plane or what… Anyways, hope the cold goes away soon!

Sounds like a great weekend. GLad to hear you’re feeling a little better and are peeling. This might be TMI but I could peel that skin after I get a tan/burn all day. Gross.
April 12th, 2010 at 9:48 pm
This cracked me up: “it’s no wonder she landed herself a solid Midwestern man” lol I love the way you put things =D
Sounds like you had an amazing week- and in random happenstance, I also passed up John Mayer tickets because I was feeling under the weather. Boo to the tan peel-age though, that’s the worst! At least you have the pictures to prove that one time you were tanned =)

How can I be the size of your pinky when my big pasty white, puffy hungover head looks like it’s about 3 inches bigger than yours in that picture?! We would LOVE to be your neighbors if we could just bring the California weather with us. Thanks again for making sure it was so beautiful and warm while we were there. What a great time we had! I foresee more visits with you guys in the future for sure. We enjoyed every minute with you!
Sizzle’s comment totally cracked me up, btw.
