SoMi Speaks

Ketchup

This weekend, I …

  • Watched two episodes of the newest season of Friday Night Lights – man, how I love that show!
  • Went on a mega long walk with Sweets and SoMi. We were all beat afterwards.
  • Took a 3-hour nap, in bed to make it an official nap, after that mega walk. This girl needs her sleep!
  • Ate seafood in Chicago, not something I normally seek out, but the four-hour meal with dear friends from Indianapolis was worth it.
  • Found out we’ve been paying taxes on the wrong property ID number for our garage (which is billed separately from our condo). I am hopeful we can get this resolved ASAP so we don’t screw up our chances of refinancing.
  • Walked to a local garden center with our neighbor, purchased pretty flowers and returned home to plant them. Gatherings in our front yard with neighbors always remind me we chose the right building.
  • Might have done a little fist pump when I learned the Chicago Blackhawks beat the San Jose Sharks by not very much.
  • Ventured to the big, scary world of the Chicago suburbs (ha) to visit with Sweets parents, take a long walk with the dogs and share dinner.
  • Had a brief, few minutes of shut eye on my in-laws couch, only to be woken up by SoMi puking up her dinner. We don’t know why she got sick, other than she might have drank some stream water on our walk.
  • Stayed up too late to catch the latest episode of Treme, another favorite show this season.

This weekend wasn’t particularly busy, as in full of plans, but I still came away from it fatigued. Wishing I had more time to do laundry, do dishes, clean up our tornado-strewn house. Wishing I had more time to relax.

Alas, today is Monday and all I can do is push forward with hopes of a solid night of sleep tonight.

What was the highlight of your weekend?

The highlights of my weekend were participating in a Lady Gaga flashmob in downtown Long Beach on Friday. (At an event to support a program for gay and lesbian teens), going to my first LA Derby Dolls event on Saturday, and playing in a vball tournament on Sunday and getting a 5th place finish. Pretty good. But now it’s Monday…

Highlight of my weekend was…meeting Mr. Darcy’s parents. I need another weekend though- this one went too fast!

  3. Sara Says:

Highlight? Beating Drew at Gin for the first time ever! Go me!
I love, love, love, Friday Night Lights (we have Direct TV so I’ve already seen this season)!

  4. Marie Says:

I hope Somi is ok! Poor thing. But sounds like you had a pretty awesome weekend! Naps are the best by the way.

I’d say the highlight of mine was spending time with Matt. We hadn’t spent quality time together for a long while.

Sleeping in until 9:45 on Sunday morning. Seeing my beets and red cabbage sprouting. Bonfire with friends in my backyard.

I think that all sounds lovely (well not SoMi puking, but you know what I mean). The highlight of my weekend was spending time with some of my favorite friends, attending a concert, and reading on the swing while soaking up some rays.

I have Friday Night Lights in my Netflix queue and haven’t started watching yet. I need to do that one of these days, I keep hearing wonderful things! I hate that I missed Treme. We kept seeing commercials and saying we wanted to watch, and then never caught it when it was on (I think something else was at the same slot). We never set it to record either, so now I’m afraid we’d be too far behind.

I have those FNL episodes on my dvr and I hope to get to them before the new episode this weekend. This is just a busy week!

The highlight of my weekend was probably laughing with my sister at all the inappropriate things we could write in a birthday day card for a one year old. Sometime little silly moments leave me laughing for weeks!

Wow, it MUST be Monday, because I kept looking for a bullet about ketchup, and it wasn’t until I read the whole post that I realized what you actually meant. :-P

The highlight of my weekend was definitely taking a nap yesterday. It even beat out seeing Iron Man 2 (which was good, but not as good as the first one) and finding a delicious meal at Chili’s that is well within my calorie limit. Napping = bliss.

  10. Amy --- Just A Titch Says:

I had a lot of downtime this weekend; however, I STILL find myself wanting more. THankfully, school is over soon so I can sleep! Hooray!

  11. Nora Says:

I usually take it of a great weekend I’m fatigued; highlight of my weekend was my college BFF’s baby shower and my dad’s surprise birthday party on Saturday eve. A lovely weekend filled with so much love. Would gladly do it all over again if I could.

Hope SoMi’s back to normal; I hate it when Jack gets sick and I have no idea why!

  12. Rachel @ MWF Seeking BFF Says:

Friday Night Lights is AMAZING. I haven’t watched the latest episode but CANNOT WAIT! As for me? The highlight was a friend in town’s visit. But I too am exhausted now…

Jason and Ella were away on a campout. I had a wonderful time with Miles. He was such a pleasant and fun boy. We did the Farmer’s Market, nursery, Culvers and stayed up late to finish watching a movie. He kept me company on Sat day while I did a massive cleaning of the kids rooms and pretended to help me plant flowers on Sunday. I pretended to help him roller skate (he really doesn’t need much help). We got to pet the next door neighbor’s new puppy and talk to her (the owner of the puppy) a bit too. Sunday morning we went to church. Even though I hate sitting in church without Jason normally, I sought out friends and sat with some great women. Way to make a dreaded experience into something pleasant. :-)

The highlight of my weekend was our first BBQ on our patio with friends. They announced they are expecting their 2nd baby, which was both thrilling and bittersweet. It’s so hard to maintain friendships when one couple has kids and the other doesn’t. Thankfully it’s my best friend and we’re committed to staying friends, but 2 kids is going to make things hard (and she’s a medical resident).

i think my highlight was my 24 hours with a certain someone, but i’m envious of all your walks… i think that i need to participate in some of those, clear my head and what not.

  16. Ginger Says:

Sounds like you had one of those busy, productive weekends that doesn’t end up feeling like a weekend!

Ours was kind of all over the place. We spent all day Saturday cleaning, organizing and baby-proofing--needed, but not quiet fun. Then Sunday we spent all day out and about: we went to the park, to the beach, to Target, and to dinner to name a few. I probably should have slept more though :-)

eating hamburgers topped with pulled pork :)

  18. Jessica Says:

Oh my gosh you’re a Friday Night Lights fan??? We HAVE to discuss. I’m obsessed with that show. I love it. Coach Taylor, I have a HUGE crush on him.

  19. Lys Says:

our weekend was relatively relaxing, and we didn’t plan anything because J had to work Saturday night from 10pm to 7am on Sunday. Then at 6:30 that night, his boss decided they should all go to work at 7pm, so he ended up only working until 1am. Riveting, right? Yeah, we also went to a small bridal show on Sunday and got roped into signing up for a 90-minute seminar on timeshares to see if we could get a deal on a 7-day honeymoon package. I have many, many doubts about this, but J wanted to do it, so I’m trying (really, really, really hard) to be supportive.

We had our first camping trip of the season. Perfect weather, and I am now very tan! Good, good weekend.

  21. Mel Heth Says:

Awe there’s nothing like the sound of your pet getting sick to rile you out of a perfectly lovely sleep…

My highlight, as you know, was Robin Hood. :)

  22. martymankins Says:

Highlight of my weekend? that is was actually nice and sunny, because the previous two weekends and this coming weekend are cold and rainy. So ready for summer here so I can get out and walk more. Reading about other people’s walks doesn’t quite cut it.
