Don’t
The beauty in being a blog writer is it’s our personal space that we style in the way we’d like and then share with friends, acquaintances and strangers alike. In the world of personal blogging, there are those bloggers who share every nitty gritty detail of their lives and others who save only the rainbows and unicorns for their blog audience. Yesterday, in an attempt to illustrate that she’s a real person living a not-so-perfect life, Ashley wrote a great post about all the everyday things she doesn’t do. I liked it so much, I want to follow with a list of my own.
I don’t turn off the TV enough.
I don’t care if we expose Gavin to the TV shows we like.
I don’t clean toilets or floors or windows.
I don’t go to the gym nearly enough.
I don’t put away Gavin’s toys or my clothes as much as I’d like.
I don’t care if company sees our house in it’s normal, mess-induced chaos.
I don’t like leftovers.
I don’t mind throwing away food if it’s over a week old.
I don’t do frozen fruits or frozen vegetables or cooked fruit.
I don’t feed Gavin green vegetables enough.
I don’t care if Gavin sometimes plays with his food instead of eating it.
I don’t keep a baby book for Gavin.
I don’t care if people frown on me for skipping this parenting must-do.
I don’t have many framed photos of Gavin (only one).
I don’t buy fresh flowers as often as I’d like.
I don’t regularly go to the farmer’s market, even though I’d like to in theory.
I don’t walk to Gavin’s music class, even though I thought we would.
I don’t drive a save-our-environment, small car.
I don’t care what people think when they see me driving a gas-guzzling SUV.
I don’t take enough time out for myself, instead preferring to spend free time with my boys.
I don’t have any regrets about the way I live my imperfect life.
I’m definitely far from perfect. What about you?

I think this blog is a sort of baby book or Gavin. It may not be traditional, but you are totally recording the observations and milestones.
I don’t pick up clutter as often as I should.
I don’t have people over as much as I’d like because my house isn’t perfect.
I don’t cook as often because take out is easier.
I don’t return phone calls because the thought of talking on the phone makes me cringe.
I love this.

I totally don’t do cooked fruit either. People always look at me funny when I tell them that, but hey, I yam who I yam. Yes. Bad. I know. It’s early. Forgot to comment yesterday, but those were totally mega cute photos of Mr. Gavin and his party. What a celebration!

Ha, I love this! I don’t clean my own house. I don’t put much effort into cooking during the week and instead eat leftovers and microwaved baked potatoes. I don’t bargain shop or price compare. I don’t do fruit-flavored icecreams. I don’t eat enough foods that contain calcium (but know I need to work on this). I don’t enjoy coffee without flavored creamers. I don’t care that my pumpkin spice latte costs $5, it’s worth it to buy this treat for myself once a week.
That was fun. :)

Love this! I’m definitely one to only post about the rainbows and unicorns!! I have my reasons. . .
Anywho, I don’t put down my smart phone enough. I don’t drink enough water (gotta make sure to the next few days as we’re running a half Saturday). I don’t don’t feed MM enough veggies, either. I don’t drive a granola car, either, and we’re hoping to purchase an even bigger SUV in 2012.

What’s a baby book? <--Clearly I don't have a kid.
I'm faaaaaaaaaar from perfect. But I think my blog reflects that.
I don't like talking to anyone when I first wake up.
I don't cook enough during the week.
I don't like cooking to begin with (but I love baking, can't figure that one out).
But there's so much more. Too long to list here! I like this!

I don’t set an alarm to get up except on days we have the children.
I don’t dress up or put on make-up for most of my work days.
I don’t eat enough vegetables myself (hard when I’m allergic to them, but I miss them)
I don’t pick up the phone enough to call my friends and family.
I don’t always stick to the list when I go to Target or grocery shopping.
I don’t eat as healthfully as I would like and I defintely don’t work out enough.
I don’t do dishes every single night; right now there is a pile in the sink and I will deal with them later.

I love this post and I loved Ashley’s too! I might have to follow suit on my blog! :)

I loved Ashley’s post and I love yours… it makes me feel good to see all the things you guys are NOT doing :)
I’ll definitely post my own list this November (perfect for NabloPoMo ;))
P.S. I love that you don’t clean toilets or floor or windows :) (Q: who does?)

fun!
i don’t clean the house unless people are coming over.
i don’t clean the kitty litter as often as i should.
i don’t feel ANY pressure to have a kid. i mean, i do from my mom, but i mean my internal clock or whatever? apparently on indefinite snooze.
i don’t like asparagus, which is embarrassing as a foodie.
i don’t eat NEARLY enough fruit. it almost always goes bad when i buy it.
i don’t put on makeup unless i’m going out or i think a photo might be taken of me.

I think you’re keeping a baby book right on this blog, lady.
I don’t clean my cat litter box as often as I should and then Mr. W walks around muttering about how it stinks. :)
I don’t get rid of craft supplies after I realize I’m not using them.
I don’t always remember to brush my tongue.
Probably shouldn’t have admitted any of those on the Internet. Oh well!

Man, I’m with you on a lot of these.
I don’t walk to dance class even though it is only 4 blocks away.
I don’t take a shower every single day.
I don’t clean under the bed even though I know there are dust bunnies the size of one of our cats under there.
I don’t remember to take my vitamins every day.

Love this list. It reminds me that my “don’t minds” are OK, too… and that we all deserve to lighten up a bit and enjoy what we have the way we prefer! So there! :) Thanks for being so honest in your list -- it gives me courage to think of my own “don’t minds” and to not mind them, too!

My list of don’ts can fill a few blog posts. But on an equal basis, so can my Do’s list. There might even be a few items that are the same on both lists (wild, I know).
Perhaps my biggest don’t is that I don’t try to let things bother me that others do. There are some glaring exceptions, which get immediately addressed, but just about anything else, I let go. It’s not important enough to worry myself over.
BTW, if you see my IP address recorded, I wasn’t trying to steal photos… only trying to let Google spell check. ;-)

Well, I’m so imperfect it’s not even funny. I usually think it’s because I’m from another country and I’m just different from people here, but nah, imperfection runs worldwide ;) We all have our quirks and if you ask me, we are better for them.
