So, I was darn delayed in coming up with some intentions for September, but don’t be fooled into thinking it was an unproductive month. =)
Research Italy! Yes! I did some research into accessibility to Cinque Terre and determined how long we would like to stay there (I let my mom take the reins on making travel arrangements). I did a lot of research on Florence, in particular, visiting Florence with a young child. I have a laundry list of places to visit and have started narrowing down hotels; I hope to make a reservation this week!
Look at my phone less! I think I did alright with this one. I looked at my phone far less while stuck at red lights (which are the bane of my existence) and I tried not to check emails or social media more than twice a day. I noticed a handful of times when wearing a watch came in very handy (because I didn’t pick up my phone). And the amazing thing is, my world didn’t stop just because I wasn’t up to date, real-time on everyone else’s life!
Budget! I got a good start on this. I filled out a worksheet regarding my spending and took a guess at some of Sweets’ spending as it relates to the bills he pays. Sweets and I had a number of conversations about how we can cut back; and, I expect that upon our return from Italy, we will be paying for far less cable and will be much more purposeful in the way we spend money.
Because of our upcoming travel, I have decided to keep my goals in October short and sweet.
Achieve 10,000 steps! One of my weight loss goals is to achieve 10,000 steps per day. When we’re at home, I am able to surpass that goal 5-6 days a week. While we’re in Italy, I want to keep that one of my goals. I’m going to remain flexible regarding how I achieve it. If we’re walking around enough during the day, maybe that’s it. But, if not, I will be bringing my running shoes and expect to hit the pavement a few times to keep my legs moving.
And that’s it. Seriously. We’re just shy of two weeks away from our trip. I have a growing checklist of things to square away before our trip. I will be plenty productive without additional goals hanging over my head. So, I want to be reasonable with my goals this month.
What are your goals this month? Do you take it easy on yourself when big events are coming up (vacations, job changes, weddings, births, moves, etc.)?
